Amazing staff who took forever to check me in and brought me juice after an hour of waiting. The night tour I booked was a total waste of money. And don't get me started on the rude receptionist while I was using the wifi in the reception.
So much fun being misunderstood by the non-English speaking receptionist and paying exorbitant prices for beer. Not to mention the hostel being hidden behind another hotel like an afterthought.

The staff promptly resolved a breakfast issue and permitted bathroom use after check-out. Owner provided private accommodation and shared valuable cultural insights upon late arrival. Helpful and friendly staff offered guidance, tours, and assistance with temple visits. Clean facilities with multiple chill areas for socializing. Prime location near main road yet peaceful.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the hostel. The staff members were incredibly helpful and accommodating to the needs of a senior person like myself. They ensured that the common areas were easily accessible and well-maintained, making it comfortable for me to move around. The decoration of the hostel had a charming and homely vibe, which made me feel relaxed during my stay.
It would have been even better if there were more accessible bathrooms for the large dorm room. The children working there did their best, but having additional facilities would have ensured a more pleasant experience for senior guests like me.

We had a blast exploring Anuradhapura on our bikes, visiting the ancient ruins and cycling through the picturesque countryside. The area is perfect for cycling enthusiasts like us, with beautiful scenery and plenty of routes to explore. Plus, we met so many cool backpackers at the hostel and had a great time hanging out with them. It was the ultimate adventure!
The only thing we wished for was a lively party atmosphere at the hostel. While the staff were friendly and helpful, the social scene was a bit lacking for young party-going people like us.

For the price I paid, I was really satisfied with the value I got. The room was clean and comfortable, and I even ended up in a twin room instead of a dorm. The location was great, right in the center, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout my stay.
Food for breakfast could have been better, maybe some more variety would have been nice.

We had an amazing time at City Capital! The staff went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. One of the highlights was when the manager personally arranged a ride for us to our next destination at a very affordable price. It's wonderful to see how they truly care about their guests and go the extra mile to ensure a great experience.

The guestrooms at City Capital Hostel are absolutely amazing! They have 24-hour room service and air conditioning, which makes you feel so pampered. The double room I stayed in had a private entrance and minibar, creating a cozy and luxurious atmosphere. I slept like a baby!
The only thing I didn't really like was the tile/marble floor in the triple room. But hey, that's just my personal preference.

During my recent business trip, I had a positive experience at a hostel in Anuradhapura. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms were clean, providing a decent level of comfort. the hostel offered a well-priced nighttime trip to the ruins, allowing me to explore the historical sites conveniently.
There were a few aspects that could be improved. the hostel was not well signposted and was located at the back of another hotel, making it slightly difficult to find.

We had a great experience at our hostel in Anuradhapura. the 10 bed dorm room was incredibly spacious, allowing us to stay within our comfort zone even when fully booked. the hotel's terrace was a lovely place to relax and unwind. the staff was incredibly helpful and always ready to assist with any requests or questions we had. the facilities were fantastic, including hot water in our room. We also appreciated the manager's warm and attentive attitude, despite dealing with various issues from other guests. it was one of the best hostels we stayed at in Sri Lanka. Cons: Nothing for me. 😊.

Comfortable dorm and nice sitting area.
Confusing tours arranged by the hostel and lack of control over A/C temperature at night.

I recently stayed at City Capital Hostel for a few nights during my visit to Anuradhapura. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, even though the hostel wasn't open yet. They provided me with a private room instead of a dorm, and I was able to use their bicycles to explore the nearby ruins and town. In the morning, they served me delicious coffee and breakfast, all included in the price of my bed. The hostel seemed very new and the staff were always cheerful. it was a great experience and I highly recommend this place.
Can recommend this hotel.
